Eval.me is a customer survey creator that gives users a chance to encourage quality feedback while giving to charity. The user can create a survey for a product, service or general customer satisfaction and send it to their customers. The company issuing the survey gives one dollar to a charity of the survey taker’s choice after the survey is completed and submitted. The application hopes to encourage survey takers to spend more time answering questions to give good feedback because they aren’t rushing through to earn a prize. The dollar donation is intended to convince the customer to take the survey. Surveys can include different question types, including multiple choice with one or multiple answers, rating scale and a long and short answer option.Show more screenshots »
Eval.me was founded in July of 2011 by Flaviu Simihaian. The concept was born after Simihaian spent time building and managing surveys for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The application has drawn attention for its unique charity donation approach to convincing customers to complete surveys. Many remarked that Eval.me would be appealing, if it didn’t lack so many key features such as company branding or personalized survey invitations.
The obvious difference between Eval.me and other survey applications is the customer’s reward. Rather than giving no incentive to complete surveys or offering a prize that encourages customers to speed through a survey, the application offers donations. Customers can take surveys that will earn them one dollar to donate to a charity of their choice (with a list provided). The company issuing the survey supplies the dollar and makes the donation.
Eval.me has a very warm feel to it that looks professional with plenty of open space. The main eye candy on the site is the wood grain background found on each page. A textured grey background creates a delightful contrast while the user interface makes it easy to create new surveys. The process is easy, however the site would benefit from additional documentation to help the user get started. Eval.me offers a clean, welcoming environment to its users.
New users can begin by clicking the light blue “Get Started Now!” button found along the lower, right side of the Eval.me homepage. The registration for appears at the center of the next page and asks for a name, email address and password. After checking the terms and conditions agreement box, the user can submit the form. The user is automatically logged in and can begin building their first Eval.me survey.
Eval.me charges on a customer response basis. Anyone can create an account and build surveys for free. The site doesn’t charge a fee for sending surveys, either. The user only pays for each survey response. The fee is one dollar, with 75 cents going to the charity the customer selected and 25 cents going to Eval.me for its services. The user doesn’t have to pay anything monthly, however it may be difficult to budget until the user actually sees how many responses are received.
Eval.me is an attractive survey solution for businesses that prefer to offer donations over prizes. The application is flexible in terms of cost because it is based on the number of responses the user receives. The drawback is that Eval.me lacks many of the professional features that an established business is likely to look for. A new startup might like the application because account and survey creation is free and they can make a positive impression with customers by donating to charity.
